Promoting and defending the 2m Amateur Band

French organizations issue a joint letter

French organizations, REF, AMSAT-F, DR@F, and URC sent a joint letter to the ANFR International Affairs Commission. Since the start of the 2m crisis only URC had officialy addressed concerns to the ANFR and CEPT.

This letter addresses some other amateur radio related topics such as 6m, 46GHz, 5GHz and of course 144MHz. Here the paragraph about the 2m. Each organization will send on his own behalf to the french administration.

As always, we offer our translation service.

Point 1.6: Carry out studies on spectrum needs, coexistence with radio communication services and and regulatory actions in order to introduce potential non safety aeronautical mobile applications as proposed by CEPT during the CMR-23. We would like to express our reservation and surprise to put this proposal to let aeronautical service access the 144-146MHz band on the agenda. The 144-146MHz (primary allocation) is an essential band for amateur service and amateur satellite service and even more is part of the larger worldwide used 144-148 MHz band in Regions 2 and 3. This band is heavily used by the amateur service for experimentation activities and education. The French organization are joining the international amateur radio community which actively engaged in a strong opposition to this proposal.

For now, there is no information whether ANFR replied or not.
